Who cares about the Founder?
Do customers really care about the founders?
The short and long answer is YES. And yet, over and over we keep hearing the likes of:
✖️ I'm not one of these celebrity founders, I don't want to appear bigheaded
✖️Our products are what people love, my business is not about me
✖️ Who cares about me? Nobody knows who I am!
It's true that without a good product it's hard to build a business, even with the most charismatic founder. However, the old truth that people buy from people cannot be any more true in today's world.
We haven't yet come across a business where the customers wouldn't want to know a little about the founder and their story. More than ever, consumers want to support independent businesses and entrepreneurs for whom their work is more than just a job. They want to know the why behind your business and they want to know what building your business means to you. This is how they grow to care too!
So don't be shy, there's no harm in sharing a little bit of your story with your customers. Trust me, if done well, it can be one of the most rewarding things you'll do. Sometimes, when we help founders share their stories for the first time, the responses from customers make a very emotional read. Highly recommended!
